Established in 2011 by visionary foreign national of Ethiopia origin, Leadstar College of Management and Leadership is one of the private Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in Ethiopia. The college, defining its prominent role in the education sector to contribute for the holistic development of the nation, endeavors to produce visionary leaders who can become transformation global agents. Commencing in providing education and training in the undergraduate in distance modality, soon after its establishment, the college started graduate program in Master of Business Administration, a joint program offered with Ashland University based in Ashland, Ohio, USA through a Cross Border Higher Education distance learning model. Ashland University is a fully accredited academic institution by a Higher Learning Commission and is a member of North Central Association of University and Colleges, an agency that accredits colleges and universities in the mid-western United States of America. The University’s authorization to grant undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate degrees comes from Ohio Board of Regents. The business and economic programs at Ashland Universities are also accredited by Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) that covers on campus, off-campus, and online and distance degree programs and postgraduate classes. It was under these authorization and accreditations and also through following and adhering to the guidelines of Higher Education Relevance and Quality Agency (HERQA) and of Ministry of Education of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) that Ashland University has entered into joint agreement with Leadstar College of Management and Leadership, Ethiopia, to offer Cross border program in Master of Business Administration in the distance modality.

As of now the college has ceased accepting prospective students in the three accredited undergraduate programs in Accounting and Finance, Management and Leadership and development as well as graduate cross border program in Business Administration, to strategically shift to regular programs in the graduate levels. To this ends, the college has obtained accreditations in four graduate regular programs in Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Accounting and Finance, Master of Art in Marketing Management, and Master of Art in Leadership.
